EPA Approved Methodology
All MultiLab instruments can be used with the IDS OBOD probe for wastewater compliance reporting of BOD and CBOD. Available IDS pH and conductivity sensors can also be used for drinking water and wastewater compliance reporting.
By using the available BNC adapter and the corresponding ISE, the MultiLab 4010-2 and 4010-3 can be used for compliance reporting of Ammonia (wastewater),Bromide (wastewater), Chloride(wastewater), Cyanide (wastewater and drinking water), Fluoride (wastewater and drinking water), Nitrate (wastewater and drinking water), Potassium (wastewater), and Sulfide (wastewater).
Continuous Measurement Control (CMC)
The CMC function displays continual monitoring of the sensor's measuring range. The range is represented with a bar and calibration points are shown as vertical lines at the cal point. A moving cursor shows the current measured value and indicates if the measurement is within the calibrated range.
Quality Sensor Control (QSC)
The QSC is a system to monitor the condition of the pH electrode. An initial calibration is performed and, afterwards, the sensor status is monitored and graphically displayed over time.

MultiLab IDS ProOBOD
The IDS ProOBOD® self-stirring optical BOD probe for use with the YSI MultiLab.
Designed to fit into standard 300 mL BOD bottles.
EPA approved for wastewater compliance reporting of BOD and CBOD.
The ProOBOD is designed for use with the MultiLab 4010-1, 4010-2, or 4010-3 instruments. Optical, luminescent technology eliminates the probe warm-up period and membrane changes. The self-stirring BOD probe has a super quiet lab stirrer that helps ensure a representative sample and improves DO response times.
· Smart sensor retains calibration in the probe
· User-replaceable, low-maintenance sensor with +1-year life
· 2-year warranty; reliable and serviceable, design reduces cost-of-ownership and reduces down-time
· Guarded sensor - the sensor guard provides protection of the sensor tip when taking the BOD probe in and out of BOD bottles
· Probe body tapered to fit into a standard 300 mL BOD bottle
· Extremely quiet operation
· No warm-up time required
· Self-stirring to provide representative sample and increase response times
300mL Disposable Biochemical Oxygen Demand
(B.O.D.) Bottles
Lightweight unbreakable and recyclable disposable bottles offer safety as well as convenience. Bottles are formed from PET resin the most easily recycled plastic available.
The use of clean new bottles eliminates the problem of contamination from sample carry over or detergent residue. Our disposable bottles have an amorphous carbon coating which keeps oxygen from diffusing into or out of your sample. Bottles provide uniform blanks high standard recoveries and quality test data.
Bottles come packaged and are consecutively numbered. Stoppers are sold separately.
227497-00 300 mL BOD Bottle, Unnumbered,
Glass Robotic Stopper
(Wheaton) BOD Bottles are ideal for incubating diluted samples of sewage, sewage effluents, polluted waters, and industrial wastes to determine the amount of oxygen required during the stabilization of the decomposable organic matter by aerobic biochemical action. We recommend the 300mL capacity bottles for the five-day BOD test as referenced in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 21st Edition, 5210B, 2005. All of the BOD bottles have large, permanently screened-on marking areas. All of the bottles are manufactured from Type I borosilicate glass. Robotic Stopper.
Polyethylene Caps
This polyethylene cap, complete with a closed cell foam insert, snaps firmly over the flared mouth of Wheaton BOD bottles. This closure prevents the evaporation of the water seal during the five-day BOD incubation period. The foam insert fits into the cap and exerts pressure on the bottle stopper to hold it securely in place.
Cap Membrane Kit
Includes bottle of electrolyte, 1 sanding disc, and 6 screw-on cap membranes. 1.00mL FEP Fluoropolymer film membranes. Black cap. Response Time (T95 - from 0 to 100%) = 18 seconds flow Dependence After 4 Minutes = 45% Required Flow Rate = 12 inches/second
Nitrification Inhibitor
Nitrification Inhibitor is used to inhibit nitrogenous oxygen demand in a BOD test.
Simply squeeze the handle one time per 300 ml sample and the perfect dosage is added to the sample.
Economical, easy to use system. Dosage instructions are printed on the reagent label as well as on top of the dispenser!
pH Strips
Indicator Sticks pH-FIX 0.0 – 14 100/pk
Recommended for pH measurement in weakly buffered or strongly alkaline solutions!
pH-Fix indicator sticks are for the rapid measurement of the pH of a water sample. Additionally they can be used for monitoring the pH of a sample during analysis to avoid errors due to weakly buffered solutions. For this purpose pH-Fix indicator sticks are clearly superior to other pH papers. In contrast to conventional indicator papers, the indicator dyes of pH-Fix sticks are chemically bonded to the cellulose fibres (DE-PS 24 36 257).
Traceable® Four-Channel Alarm Timer
The lab’s most popular timer
· Count up/down, time in/out, memories, alarm, 12/24 hour clock
· Massive ¾” high display allows viewing from across the lab
· Remarkable memory returns display to previously programmed countdown time at the touch of a button
· Extra-loud, 70 db alarms for 1 minute or can be silenced manually
· Supplied: clip, stand, magnet, battery, Traceable® Certificate

As a result the possibility of colour bleeding, even in strongly basic solutions, is avoided. Furthermore there are the following advantages:
· Measurement of pH values is possible even in unbuffered solutions, since the sticks can be left in the solution until the final reaction color is obtanined.
· Test samples are not contaminated by the indicator dyes. Thus
solutions can be used for further investigations.
· Colors of the individual color fields cannot run into each other. This allows a more precise comparison the color scale.
· Specially developed indicator dyes guarantee a sharp differenciation between the individual pH values and a clear and easy comparison with the color scale.
Length and stability of the plastic strips protect fingers from contact with the test solution.
